2014 Cup Run: Round 1, Game 5

Whoah-oh here we come. Watch out Sharks, we’ll chew you up!

Impressive shutout for the Kings in Game Five of the Round One matchup, bringing the series to 3-2 and getting San Jose fans a bit nervous. And getting LA fans a little more hopeful and excited, as Sean and Keith express in the text feed below.

Los Angeles Kings v San Jose Sharks - Game Five

Also, today’s link: I must admit, I learned about The Hockey Writers a bit late, but I still have enjoyed reading their recaps and analysis of the playoffs–such as this article about the pressure shifting onto the Sharks after Game 5–especially when some of the LA-based writers’ Kings bias bleeds through.

[Game time]

8:06pm

Keith:

Working. Please update.

Sean:
2nd just started. Carter makes it 3-f___ing-0.

Toffoli, Kopitar, Carter.

We are controlling the play almost completely.

Keith:

Awesome. Big guns finally blazing.

Sean:
Finally looking like the Kings.

Keith:

We need to blow them out.

Quiet the fans.

Fan the flame of doubt.

8:16pm

Sean:

Going back on the PP. Outshooting them 24-11. Gotta keep the pressure up and not let them back in at all.

Oh, and the third goal chased Niemi.

Keith:

Yes!

Sean:

Sharks still have 11 shots. Justin Williams has 7.

Keith:

You love Justin “playoffs” Williams

Sean:
He’s a clutch player.

Sharks going on the PP

Keith:

On the third line w Stoll?
Sean:
Yup.

End of 2nd, still 3-0.

Keith:

How has Quick looked?

Sean:

Pretty good so far. Has had to make only a few good saves.

9:19pm

Keith:

Time?

Sean:

9:53 left in the 3rd.

Going on the PP.

Last PP Gaborik hit the post.

And Robin may love Gaborik more than you do.

Keith:

It’s possible, though we do have the Slovak bond. Still not sure if we should try to sign him.

Sean:

Unless you have someone else in mind, I don’t see how we don’t.

Keith:

Need to see some more back check. Couple more goals wouldn’t hurt.

Sean:
He’s gelled so well with Kopi and with Brownie finally stepping up, that line could be a force to be reckoned with.

9:27pm

Sean:

5:40 left.

1 minute left.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand it’s a shutout.

Keith:

Pull the goalie?

Sean:
Nope.

Keith:

Hm. Conceded defeat.

Sean:
Yup.

Outshot them 41-30.
