2014 Cup Run: Round 1, Game 6

Game 6 was close, but in the end, we knew this series had to go to seven games.

Sean and Keith were giddy before, giddy during, and giddy after the game, as you can follow below in the text thread.

For today’s link, we turn to The Royal Half , which is really a blog and podcast host for a number of Kings fans that form All the Kings Men: check out their game feed to Game 6, which accompanies the text thread of Sean and Keith nicely, as they compile the various tweets and comments of San Jose Sharks fans as they watch this game get out of hand (delicate readers may want to avert their eyes).

Keith:

So what would your lines be for Monday?

Sean:
I wouldn’t change a thing. You?

Keith:

Agreed. So is Carter centering the Manchester kids? And Richards is fourth line?

Sean:
Yeah, top to bottom. Brown’s been looking good on the top line and Carter and the kids are getting it done.

[Game time]

9:20pm

Keith:

We gotta do this.

9:24pm

Sean:

Good. NOW LOCK IT DOWN.

Or score another one. Whichever works.

9:30pm

Keith:

Yeah. That’s my preference.

Holy ____. Praise the Kopitar.

Sean:

All praise. All praise be to Kopi.

Keith:

I must say I think the second goal looks like it seems like it should have been whistled dead.

Sean:
But the third and fourth look good to me 😉

Keith:

You know, I don’t think these teams like each other.

Sean:

I think you may be right. Sharks are looking fragile.

Keith:

Yeah. I wish game seven was in like four hours.

Sean:

F____, I wish this WAS game seven.

Keith:

Martinez has looked good on offense.

Sean:

I still can’t believe this.

Keith:
Only happened nine times, forcing game seven.

I’m so ecstatic right now.

Sean:
There’s still one more. And SJ has been in this position before, having a game 7 forced on them after being up 3-0. They won that game, so expect them to come out strong.

Keith:

True. But as I heard someone say, it would be a very San Jose thing to do to go up three games on your state rival then collapse and lose the series.

Sean:
Indeed.

Keith:

Do you think odds are in our favor?

The beauty of this is that instead of this series being all about Sharks dominance and Kings ineptitude after the first two games, all the focus is on the Sharks choking and Kings showing character.

Sean:

I think odds are ever so slightly in our favor. And it sorta seems like every series they play is really about the Sharks choking.
