2014 Cup Run: Round 3, Game 4

It’s Game 4 of Kings-Blackhawks, and if the past two rounds were any indication, we have no idea what to expect.

Fortunately, Keith and Sean are joined by Matt and Anthony to break down this game before, during, and after in the text thread below.

Today’s link: Woo hoo–completely new link: The Score! Not exactly sure what differentiates this site from others, but it appears to be sports content for mobile devices. Regardless, they have some good NHL coverage during the Stanley Cup playoffs, including Justin Cuthbert’s pieces like this one comparing 2013 to 2014.

[Pre-game]

10:26am

Keith:

Who is your Kings Conn Smythe candidiate right now?

Matt:

Doughty or Kopitar

You?

Keith:

As long as Kopitar stays neutralized, I think Doughty. Been pretty consistent on both ends

Sean:

My prediction is Kopi. Cuz he’s gonna blow the Cup Final wide open.

Keith:

Love it.

Is there really a game tonight? I feel like I need a few more days to absorb that last victory.

Sean:

Park and ride.

Keith:

Predicted score

Matt:

2-0

Sean:

3-1

Keith:

4-3 again, silent scorers come out blazing. Kopitar w game winner.

Sean:

For the record, I’m saying 3-1 Chicago. Kane with the empty netter to knot the series. We are going to 7!

Keith:

Ouch.

Do you think Chicago mixes its lines or personnel?

Sean:

I think Shaw goes up to the second line to give them more speed up the middle, Handzus gets bumped to the third line.

5:00pm

Keith:

Get a load of this guy: Sean is picking Blackhawks to beat Kings tonight

Anthony:

What a dick.

Sean:
I just want to take this to Game 7, where Justin Williams can score 7 goals.

Keith:

I would be pretty happy if we ended this in five.

Anthony:

Um, yeah. The sooner the better.

Especially if Chicago is the best team they’ll play.

Keith:

By far.

Anthony:

Yeah. Won’t be over until it’s over.

Sean:

I’m just saying the Hawks aren’t going down without a fight.

Anthony:

Chicago sympathizer. Blackhawks apologist.

Keith:

Tony. Who would you like to see Kings beat most in a finals: Chicago, New York, Boston, or the Habs of Montreal?

Anthony:

Uh, Boston

F___ Boston

I have generally positive feeling about the other cities, and don’t know the nuances of hockey enough to really comment on those specific franchises otherwise.

Sean:

Fine. Kings win 4-2.

Gaborik, Kopitar, Martinez, and Toffoli.

[game time]

6:35pm

Keith:
Gabitar!

Sean:
We love it!

6:46pm

Sean:
Wow.

Keith:

They’re all coming out now!

Sean:

Juggernaut mode.

Pearson is looking amazing.

What a period!!!!

Keith:

This is unbelievable

Sean:

Cautious optimism.

8:18pm

Sean:
Balls.

Keith:

4-3?

Sean they need your pep talk

Sean:

5-2

LOCK THIS S___ DOWN
